How I Handle Long Email Delays

This post is part of Mini Week, where I’m posting a new mini post but not actually mini as it turns out every weekday this week except not that either.

My brother once sent a scathing email about his boss, who he referred to as Dumb F*** for most of email. He meant to send it to his wife, but he sent it to his boss accidently. Suffice to say, he started on a new career search the next day….

Can’t thank you enough for the self-awareness I gained from reading this post! A few hours ago it saved me from sending the Guatemala email – in a professional context. (I just now received the got-back-to-town-equivalent email.)

What works for me is going through all my emails and achieving Inbox Zero once a week (usually on Monday morning, like I’m doing right about now) and skimming through my new emails for important things to reply to 2-3 times a day. This fits perfectly with my personality and time management strategy.

So relatable. But in me being another me case, I would’ve waited for days for a reply, in the end losing that last bit of patience by deciding to check, if I didn’t write anything “to dig myself into a hole” worthy. Then I would’ve found out that the email had never even been sent. Coz distraction & bad memory in 20s are building a sturdy bridge for alzheimer to cross safely to my 30s.

This was so funny, because I do this so much. Really highlights the energy we waste while hanging out for replies.
