Talks about having faith in and being nice to a rude cashier.
Then goes and tells a person, “that’s a shitty thing to do”. Ouch.

They’re really NOT the good guys, if they were holding that table for THAT long before their friends showed up. They held the table for a longer duration than I even spend in a coffee shop.

Good way to dodge an argument there was no point in having, though.

Just a question.. is there some reason you didn’t just ask any of the people sitting alone if you could sit down since it was clear that there were no free tables? I personally would have asked since where I’m from that’s perfectly fine and normal.

I would have asked the bag, not the people.

I’m quite surprised that Tim decided to say something before he left. I’m British and would have waited until I was leaving and the people had definitely been shown to be the bad guys. Is that passive aggressive?

Again, being British and maybe not the first to seek confrontation, if I were the people waiting for their friends, I’d be embarrassed that I was holding the table and they still hadn’t arrived, the lazy bastards! I would be aware of the daggers aimed at me by the people I’d refused the seats to.

That was perfect, thank you, needed that. And yea holding for an hour and a half, they could have let others sit and and have been long gone before their people arrived.

Maybe it’s just my obnoxious Boston attitude, but when they said “we’re saving this seat, our friends are coming,” my answer would have been, “Cool! When they get here I’ll get up and let them have it.” And I would have sat down, made myself cozy, and DEFIED them to do anything about it…

Wow, this is nice social blindness indeed. Leave the seats for those who want to sit there – who keeps their friends waiting for two hours anyway?? And when your friends get there, you just find two free seats from the room and get around the little table with the four of you. How difficult is that?

Makes me think of the blindness in the trains at rush hour… someone is happy to find an empty seat, and the person sitting next to it says: no wait you can’t sit there, I’m holding this seat for someone who’s still coming…. I beg your pardon? You want to have the luxury of choosing the person to sit next to, when there are people standing in the bloody hallway because there is not enough room for everyone?

Anyway. Very nice cartoon, I like the faces on the stickmen very much! Thanks for posting this Tim!

    I don’t know…. I don’t think a “good guy” holds a table in a busy business for TWO HOURS!

I’ve lived in Silicone Valley. If someone reserved seating at a coffee shop for two hours, I think everyone at the shop would lynch them. Also, she’s been immortalized as a WaitButWhy Stick Figure: she should be proud, she can die knowing she accomplished something important now.

Still was a shitty thing to do. Someone could have enjoyed the table for over an hour. They could have said we are holding it, but you can sit there until our friends arrive.
